Saint-Georges-sur-Allier, Auvergne.

Patrick Bouju started the domaine in 2004 with about 1.5 hectares of land. Since then he has grown to 4.7 Hectares that are made up of different clones of Pinot Noir, Gamay d’Auvergne and Chardonnay. The vines grow among orchards and herbs with the oldest dating back 100 years. Patrick tends to the vines in an organic way with no sprays and does everything by hand in the few small holdings he has surounding the town of Glaine - Montaigut. 

atrick has a small cellar next to his house in the town where he processes all of the fruit. Tanks line the walls with different amounts of maceration carbonic ticking away inside. On the day we visited we were joined by several vigneron from around the area and tasted through all of the barrels and tanks. All of what is produced here has a link to paretics personality and to the land around him. 

 

Wines

Festejar Rosé sparkling 2014 - Gamay de Auverne grown on Volcanic soils. Natural ferment, method ancestrale sparkling rose. Fresh, a light sweetness balanced by amazing acid, smash- able fruit juice for adults.

The Blanc 2013 - Chardonnay grown on chalk and clay soils, whole bunch pressed to old barrel for elevage. $54 luc

Cailloux 2013 - Pinot Noir and Gamay d’Auvergne blend grown on Volcanic soils, carbonic maceration, aged in tank and barrel.

Brutal 2014 - Pinot Noir and Gamay d’Auvergne grown on volcanic soils, carbonic maceration, aged in tank.
